1. Register, contact information
This register "Asia Specialist Database" is held by the Finnish National Network of Universities and Polytechnics for East and Southeast Asian Studies.

2. The aim of the register
The Database facilitates Asia-related education and research within the Finnish system of higher education and between Finnish, Asian and third country universities, polytechnics and research intitutes. In addition, the Database provides information on Asia specialists for public sector, companies and NGOs.
The Database is accessible free of charge for anyone seeking information on specialists and expertise in East and Southeast Asian affairs.
3. Persons and information registered
The registered persons are Asia specialist who are Finnish citizens or living in Finland. The information provided specifies and substantiates the type expertise of the registered specialists. Obligatory information which the applicants must provide for the register is: name, country of domicile, citizenship, e-mail address and information on the applicant's expertise.
4. Transfer of the information
All registered information is freely available at the website of the registrar. There will be no separate transfers of the information neither within the EU, nor outside the EU.
5. Protection of the information
All the applicants who submit their information to the register are aware that the information is freely available for the public and they provide the information on their own accord. Specialist application forms are reviewed by the registrar before submission to the Database. All the registered persons receive ID-codes with which they may rectify, update or remove their personal profile pages. At certain intervals all registered Asia Specialists are reminded to update their information.
