Chinese Economy, 4 creditsOrganiser: Centre for East Asian Studies, University of Turku Teacher: Lauri Paltemaa, CEAS / UTU Goals: The course deepens students' knowledge on various topical issues of the contemporary Chinese economy. Contents: Issues covered during the course include privatization, foreign trade and investment, science and technology development, telecommunications, agriculture, energy, regional trade, banking and general economic politics. The course is essential for students in social sciences and business studies for understanding Chinese economic development and its challenges. |

Taken as: Home exam taken on lectures by professor Eduard B. Vermeer viewed online at any time, and on the literature. Lecture and book exams must be taken at the same time. Target group: The course is recommended for at least 2nd or 3rd year students. All teaching and exams are in English. Exam dates: The exam dates for the spring term 2010 are: 22.1. Choose the exam date that suits your own schedule best and register for examination to Lauri Paltemaa one week in advance by email (laupalt@utu.fi). Grading: on a scale of 1-5 Date & Venue: Virtual course in Moodle, can be taken any time. Literature: Naughton, Barry: The Chinese Economy (2007) Application: Continuous application. The course is open to all degree students in member universities of the Finnish university network. To apply for the course please fill in the electronic form from below. You will recieve a decision of your application within 3 days by e-mail. The course is organised in the UTU Moodle learning environment. Application form: https://www.webropol.com/P.aspx?id=259958&cid=69524679 Credit transfers: The Centre for East Asian Studies at the University of Turku will apply a study right to University of Turku for the students on their behalf. After finishing the course the students will be sent a transcript of their records from Turku. The students need to take the transcript to their own university and make sure that the credits are transferred to their own university. This will not happen automatically. Before coming to the course the students should check with their own home department that this course can be accepted as part of their degree in their own university. |
