MA Level Online Teaching on Asia
Chinese Economy, 4 ECTSOrganiser: Centre for East Asian Studies, University of Turku Teacher: Lauri Paltemaa, CEAS / UTU Application Period: Time: Starts on 4.3.2013 Goals: The course deepens students' knowledge on various topical issues of the contemporary Chinese economy. Contents: Issues covered during the course include privatization, foreign trade and investment, science and technology development, telecommunications, agriculture, energy, regional trade, banking and general economic politics. The course is essential for students in social sciences and business studies for understanding Chinese economic development and its challenges. |

Taken as: Home exam taken on online lectures and the literature. Lecture and book exams must be taken at the same time. Target Group:The MA level courses are aimed for students who already have aquired some knowledge about Asia or on the specialty of the particular course. The course is recommended for at least 2nd or 3rd year students. These courses are free for all students who hold a valid study right in one of the University Network's member universities. The study fee for students from Finnish non-member universities is 50 euro per credit. All teaching and exams are in English. Exams: There is one exam each month. Choose the exam date that suits your own schedule best and register for examination to Lauri Paltemaa one week in advance by email (laupalt@utu.fi). Exam dates: 26.4., 31.5. and 28.6.2013. Autumn term exam dates will be announced later. Grading: on a scale of 1-5 Literature: Naughton, Barry (2007): The Chinese Economy Application: Continuous application. To apply for the course please fill in the electronic form below. You will receive a decision of your application within 5 days by e-mail. These courses are free for all students who hold a valid study right in one of the University Network's member universities. The study fee for students from Finnish non-member universities and students from universities of applied sciences is 50 euro per credit. Students from these institutions need to fill out both the course application as well as an application to study as a non-degree student. Credit transfers: The Centre for East Asian Studies at the University of Turku will apply a study right to University of Turku for the students on their behalf. At the end of the term the course the students will be sent a transcript of their records from Turku. The students need to take the transcript to their own university and make sure that the credits are transferred to their own university. This will not happen automatically. Before coming to the course the students should check with their own home department that this course can be accepted as part of their degree in their own university. |
