Goals: Students will learn the general course of contemporary Chinese history (c.1949 to present), its major events, personages, policies and contradictions. |

Target Group:The MA level courses are aimed for students who already have aquired some knowledge about Asia or on the specialty of the particular course. Taken as: Online lectures (in Moodle), exam on lectures and literature Exam dates: 2012: 28.9., 26.10., 30.11 2013: 25.1., 22.2., 26.4., 31.5. Required readings:
Grading: on a scale of 1-5 Application for the course: Continuous application. To apply for the course please fill in the electronic form below. You will receive a decision of your application within 5 days by e-mail. These courses are free for all students who hold a valid study right in one of the University Network's member universities. The study fee for students from Finnish non-member universities and students from universities of applied sciences is 50 euro per credit. Students from these institutions need to fill out both the course application as well as an application to study as a non-degree student. More information regarding the process and the form can be found in the study guide. Credit transfer: Students from the Network's member universities are not required to apply for a study right at the university of Turku on their own, the Centre for East Asian Studies will do this on their behalf. At the end of the term the students will be sent a transcript of records from Turku. The students need to take the transcript to their own university and make sure that the credits are transferred from Turku to their own respective universities. This will not happen automatically! Students from the University of Turku do not have to apply for the credit transfers, all credits are registered by the Network.
Before enrolling on the course the students should check with their own home department that this course can be accepted as part of their degree in their own university. APPLICATION FORM: Please make sure you have familiarized yourself with the course requirements in order to makes sure you have both the time and resources to complete the modules you have chosen. Drop outs from the courses have come about due to students not reserving enough time for assignments and forgetting the deadlines. When you are accepted to a given course, please write down the exam dates and essay deadlines immeadiately so that you won't forget them. |
