Geopolitical Adventures in the Name of Asia, 2 credits

Goal:
Learning about the changing meanings given to the term Asia from various points of view.
Map

Content: Analysis of the changing meanings given to Asia in classical Mediterranean antiquity, Medieval Europe, Renaissance maritime explorations, Ming Dynasty China, Enlightenment Europe, Imperial Europe, anti-colonial Asia, post-colonial Asia and economic reneissance Asia.

Target Group: The students of the Network member universities are eligible to apply. The course is recommended for advanced level (MA) students.

Course Schedule: 1.11.-30.11.2009

Grading: on a scale of 1-5

Application for the course: The application time has already ended The course will be organized next time on the 4th priod during Spring Semester 2010. First 40 eligible students are accepted.
