Goals: The students will be able to comprehend Indonesian political situation and its process from the historical period to present situation.

Content: The course will introduce students to Indonesia and its politics. The aim is to get to know about Indonesia and its political process from the historical period into present situation. This course will discuss the elements which have shaped Indonesia’s politics from the historical legacies to the process of consolidating democracy. After the course, the students are expected to gain knowledge on Indonesian political situation and understand the process of its democratization.

General info: The lectures will be available online during the course period. Students are expected to open the online lecture regularly.

This lecture is part of Politica Science Section at the Dept. of Social Science and Philosophy ath the University of Jyväskylä.

 

Course participants may communicate in our class mailing list (will be provided later) or have interactive model of classes at Optima (Jyväskylä’s e-course program).

Target Group:The MA level courses are aimed for students who already have aquired some knowledge about Asia or on the specialty of the particular course.

These courses are free for all students who hold a valid study right in one of the University Network's member universities.

The study fee for students from Finnish non-member universities is 50 euro per credit.

Taken as: Online lectures, readings and a written home exam (week xx). Consult the instructor as early as possible if this time is not suitable with your schedule. Question sheet will be sent by email on Monday and should be answered and sent back by Friday the same week, at the latest at 17.00 Finland time. Those who fail to submit the answer sheet won’t get any mark.

Grading: on a scale of 1-5

Application: Application period in Autumn 2013. A maximum of 40 students will be accepted to the course in the order of application.
