Content

This course equips students with a foundational understanding of Chinese contemporary politics and society. After the course, you will recognize China’s central political institutions and have a general understanding of the policy implementation process in China. Also, you will understand salient issues in Chinese society such as migration, inequality, aging society, digitalization and the civil society. The course improves students’ ability to understand sustainability issues in a global context, and it strengthens skills in independent work and time management.

The development of the course is funded by the “ReConnect China” project and the course materials are produced in collaboration with leading European institutions of Chinese studies. More about the ReConnect project can be found here

Application process

Available for students of the member universities of the Finnish University Network for Asian Studies, and self-paying students.

Once your application has been processed, you will receive a  message about the decision. This will come a few weeks after the application period has ended. If you are accepted to the course, you will receive a welcoming email on the first day of the course, and gain access to the course site in the Moodle. The welcome email comes to the address you have given in the application form. It may go to the spam or offers-folder of your email (at least Gmail tends to do it), so check those folders too.
