Asian Programme (25 ECTS)

 

The Asian Programme is an interdisciplinary study programme which provides students with basic knowledge of Asia. After taking introductory courses students can deepen their knowledge with advanced courses.

This minor consists of at least three introductory course modules (3 x 5 ECTS) and elective advanced courses offered by the Asia Network.

The introductory course modules (5 ECTS) are:

If you have completed introductory courses offered by the Asia Network before autumn term 2021, they can be used for an Asian Programme Minor.

To get the Asian Programme Minor, select theintroductory and advanced level courses you wish to take and apply to them with the Asianet application form. Once you have completed the required courses and earned at least 25 ECTS, contact the student affairs office of the University of Turku opintosihteerit-yht@utu.fi to receive the Asian Programme degree. Each student is responsible for following themselves that they have the required course credits for the Minor. See the Study Guide for information on how to track your credits.

Mini Minor in Asian Studies (10 ECTS)

Mini Minor in Asian Studies (10 ECTS)

 

The Mini Minor is designed for students who prefer to include a small minor in Asian Studies in their degree. It provides the possibility to gain advanced knowledge of a specific theme or region.  The Mini Minor consists of one introductory course (5 credits) and suitable advanced courses. The available combinations are presented below.

I Contemporary East Asia (at least 10 ECTS)

INTRODUCTORY COURSE: Johdatus Itä-Aasiaan (5 ECTS) (or the old Contemporary East Asia, 6 ECTS)

II Contemporary Southeast Asia (at least 10 ECTS)

INTRODUCTORY COURSE: Johdatus Kaakkois-Aasiaan (5 ECTS) (or the old Contemporary Southeast Asia, 5 ECTS)
ADVANCED COURSES offered in academic year 2023-2024 :

III Contemporary South Asia (at least 10 ECTS)

INTRODUCTORY COURSE: Johdatus Etelä-Aasiaan (5 ECTS) (or the old Contemporary South Asia, 5 ECTS)
ADVANCED COURSES offered in academic year 2023-2024:

IV Business in East and Southeast Asia (at least 10 ECTS)

INTRODUCTORY COURSE: Introduction to Business in East and Southeast Asia (5 ECTS) (or the old Business to East and Southeast Asia, 6 ECTS)
